Guide: Why is my Phone Hot? What you can do

Almost everyone has a smartphone these days, and we all love filling them to the brim with the latest apps, games, photos, and videos. But sometimes, while tapping your curved edge AMOLED screen, you may realize that your fingers feel like they are on fire. Phones keep getting smaller. Less space between bits and pieces, and the miniaturization of the constituent technology, has left us with small, lightweight computers in our pockets. Unlike computers, the vast majority of phones do not have any kind of built-in cooling system. The only way they can give off excess heat is to radiate it into the air, making them feel warmer after use.

Play games, watch videos and extensively camera their use all put extra pressure on the processor. When screen brightness is fully on, using Wi-Fi or data and multitasking apps (using more than one app at the same time, such as listening to music and surfing the web) up the heat. As someone once said, processors are just stones that we have had them invented. Running an electric current through the silicon that creates up the chip produces heat. The more demands placed on the processor, the hotter it becomes. This is normal, and your phone pre workout up after prolonged use is to be expected.

Hot or Not?

Unless you have such a nice water-cooled Samsung phones, chances are you will notice heat build-up up in your phone as you use it. If you are concerned that it is not a normal level, you should use the phone self. Android – Go to the app you are using to type in phone numbers and enter this code: * # * # 4636 # * # *. On most Android phones, this will bring up the option ‘Battery information’. Tap it and see what it says. If the temperature is between 25-40oC it is still within a safe range. If it’s warmer, you may have a problem. Also check if your battery status is ‘Good’ otherwise that could be the culprit. iPhone – It’s a bit more complicated for iPhone users. You need to download an app from the App Store, such as Lirum Device Info Lite, which can tell you pretty much anything you want to know about your phone, including the temperature. Everything between 0-35 oC should be fine.

Attack on your battery

One of your main suspects should be the battery. If the checks above show that your battery is unhealthy or that it is too hot, there is a chance that it is getting old and needs to be replaced. The longer you keep the phone, the more likely this is, since most people have their phone up to 100% and still using it while charging, both of which are bad for your battery. If you notice that it becomes very hot while charging, the problem could be with the battery, the charging cable, or the port to which you connect the charger. Try another charger and if it is still heating up up, insert a new battery. If neither prevents the battery from overheating, then at least you have a spare charger and battery … If the battery swells noticeably, turn the phone immediately and replace the battery, disposing of the old one safely.

To be sure

Remember how you phone must radiate heat to cool down? Well, putting a plastic or leather bag over it makes it a lot less efficient. You could insulate the housing phonewhich traps the heat inside the device. This one is a bit of a Catch-22, because of course you have a reason for that. If you remove the cover, your phone more vulnerable to damage while persisting, can harm itself. Try to remove the case while doing what is normally the phone overheating. If it stays cool, you may need to look for a better designed cover.

What happens online stays online … Except malware.

A possible cause for unexpected heat is that your phone may be infected with malware. If you’ve ever installed an app from an unknown source, such as not from the Play Store or App Store, chances are you phone has an unwanted lifter stealing his resources, and possibly your data too. Download a malware scanning app or fix your phone of a backup made before the problem started. If the problem still persists then you may want to try a factory reset. If it stays cool after that, then you have to be careful what apps you reinstall there.

Stay calm
