How to Use Custom Icon packs on One UI 4 – Guide

The first One UI 4.0 beta firmware update based on Android 12 brings tons of new features, big and small. We have detailed many of these changes over the past few days and will continue to do so as more features and changes are discovered. Speaking of which, you might be happy to know that One UI 4.0 Beta finally lets you download and install icon packs from the Google Play Store. However, there is a catch. Icon packs found on the Google Play Store are not normally compatible with One UI, but the new One UI 4.0 beta solves this shortcoming, at least to some extent. Of course, this process is not as easy as installing the icon packs directly from the Play Store, but it is much better than the alternative of having no access at all. With Play Store icon packs now coming to One UI 4.0 through Good Lock Theme Park, there is a high possibility that developers will eventually integrate One UI 4.0 support directly into their icon packs, making Theme Park obsolete. Until then, One UI 4.0 Play Store users can purchase icon packs as long as they have access to the Theme Park module. Unfortunately, Good Lock is not available in all markets, so there are still some limitations. It only supports a handful of modules in One UI 4.0 Beta – although Theme Park is obviously included.

Home Screen gets updated widget and widget selection menu

Talking about home screen changes, Samsung did not update icons and color palettes with One UI 4.0. However, the stock widgets have been redesigned. They now provide more information quickly. You should also see recommendations for widgets that you might find useful. In addition, the widget selection menu has been simplified and provides a list view of all available widgets.

Quick settings panel gets thicker screen brightness bar

Samsung also updated the quick settings panel in One UI 4.0. It now has an improved layout and an integrated section for silent alerts and notifications. Also, Samsung has made the display’s brightness bar thicker.

Camera App design improvements

The standard camera app in One UI 4.0 has also received an update. The scene optimizer button now appears in Photo mode when ambient light is low or when you are scanning a document. Portrait mode and night mode settings are now more intuitive. Samsung has also updated the settings layout in Pro mode. Pro mode now looks tidier and cleaner. Last but not least, the document scanning function has been improved to simplify fine editing with the zoom function.

Improved permissions and privacy access history

Samsung has focused on improving privacy and security settings and reporting with the One UI 4 update. You can see which apps are accessing sensitive permissions such as camera, clipboard, location, and microphone in the Permission Usage History section of the Settings app. you can even come back up to seven days to analyze which applications accessed sensitive data. You can deny permissions for any app you are not comfortable with. You can also control whether an app can access your approximate or precise location.

Extra dark screen brightness settings

Samsung also introduced some new features in Accessibility Mode. One of these feature is Extra Dim, which makes the screen darker than normal. It can be found in your smartphone or tablet’s accessibility settings. You can even change the screen brightness intensity.
