How to use Chromecast to stream BBC iPlayer to TV – Guide

The new Chromecast comes with native app support, but some users in the UK noticed that the device didn’t seem to support the popular BBC iPlayer. Ahead of launch next week, however, it looks like Chromecast will receive official BBC iPlayer support with Google TV. Google’s old Chromecast powered by your phone has iPlayer support for years. However, the Android TV platform had minimal support from the BBC, just an Nvidia app that disappeared nearly a year ago. A Reddit user from the UK managed to get his hands on a Chromecast with Google TV a little earlier and found that the BBC iPlayer app is available to download from the Google Play Store. The app looks fully functional in its demo below and has a different user interface than the older Nvidia app. Also of note is that Sky’s “NowTV” app also works on Chromecast, but it’s not fully loading yet.
