If you’re currently a student in an eligible country, such as with Tidal and Spotify, you can now get a whopping 50 percent off your Apple Music subscription. This brings the price down to $ 4.99 per month, which is pretty incredible for unlimited music streaming. Switch to Apple Music Student Plan
The easiest way to sign up for Apple Music’s student plan is actually through iTunes on your Mac or PC instead of iOS. I have had problems doing this from my iPhone several times so make sure to use a computer.
Open iTunes on your computer and make sure you are signed in with your Apple ID. (If you are not, click Sign in at the top right.) Click your account name in the toolbar and choose Account Info from the menu.
Now it’s a bit unclear, but you’ll want to find your subscriptions on the account page. It’s under Settings at the bottom. When you find it, click Manage on the right. Optionally, click Edit next to Apple Music if you have more than one iTunes subscription.
Within your renewal options, you must ensure that you are currently signed up for an individual or family subscription. Below that is a new link with the message Verification of student (1 month) required. Click on that.
Now you need to check your eligibility as a student through UNiDAYS, a separate online store for students that uses its own system to check if members are enrolled in the university. Click Verify Eligibility in iTunes to go to the UNiDAYS website. On UNiDAYS, enter your personal email address and type the school you are currently attending. Note: Not all schools are supported, so if you don’t see your school listed, unfortunately you won’t be able to sign up for student discount.
Proceed to enter your school email address. You will receive an email asking you to confirm your student account with UNiDAYS by clicking a link. UNiDAYS requires some more information, such as your major and the number of years in your program. When you have finished filling out the form, you should see that you have been verified for a full year – after which you should go through the verification process again if you are still a student.
Now go back to iTunes to your subscriptions from the account page. You should see Student is now your selected plan at half the standard price.
Solving a problem
If you still don’t have an Apple Music student subscription, go back to UNiDAYS and double check that you completed the verification process correctly. Hover over Account in the top right corner of the page and click Student Status.
You should see a green banner here that says “Verified Student” along with your institution and your verification expiration date. If you see anything other than this scrolling green banner, follow your steps to make sure you are properly signed up and qualify.
