Do you want your status bar to be the same color as the app you are using? On Android, there is a quick and simple way to achieve this. Many apps in iOS 7, as well as custom skins for the LG G3 and HTC One M8, already have this feature. With Colored Status Bar up and running, now you can find it in the app drawer like any other app. Best of all, you can make any changes you want and they don’t require a reboot. Some apps, like Google+, already have a color set in the “Action Bar” and will change the color automatically – but most don’t. To manually adjust them, find your app under By App Tints, make sure the slider at the top is set to On and select “All activities, settings below override this”. From here you can choose if you want to link the status bar and navigation bar colors (if you have a navigation bar on your device) and if you want the status bar to remain the same color even if the status bar of action temporarily disappear in the application. You can then tap one of the four colored squares to adjust its color and opacity. If you’re having trouble, make sure the opacity slider is all the way to the right. You can then adjust the value or type it in to achieve the desired color. But what if you don’t know the color code for Facebook’s blue? No problem. That’s where Color Picker comes in. After downloading this app from Play Store, you can take a screenshot of the app you want to know the color (in this example it is Play Music) and then open Color Picker and select the screenshot. Just tap the screen anywhere on the colored part of the action bar and it will tell you the color code.
Problems solution
If you are using a custom launcher that allows for a transparent status bar and/or navbar, there may be an issue where the bars are black instead of transparent on the home screen or lock screen. If this happens, the fix is surprisingly easy. Navigate to settings and uncheck the Respect KitKat APIs box, then find your Launcher and set its opacity to zero. If some of your apps get black text in the status bar when you want white text, change the option “Max HS[V] for black icons” to a higher setting, and that should take care of that. If you want certain parts of an app to display a different color than other parts, use the “Toast Activity Titles” button to display system notifications for each activity as soon as it starts. You can then go into each app and set custom colors based on activity within the app.
