Then use the exceptions button next to Block websites to automatically play sound to exclude sites by inserting URLs directly. That’s where you should go to manage your exceptions.
Turn off muted videos
If you also hate muted videos (I know I do) then you can rely on a simple solution to get Firefox to disable them too with the latest video blocking functionality. Do not worry. You don’t need to install any extensions! All you need to do is change a single Firefox preference, which you can do with the built-in configuration editor. Step 1: Type about: config in a new tab and hit Enter. Click on the button I accept the risk! button continue. Just so you know, there’s no reason to fear that prompt. Follow my instructions and you’ll be fine.
Step 2: Type media.autoplay.allow-muted in the search bar at the top of the Configuration editor. That should filter the others’ specific Firefox preference.
Step 3: Double-click the filtered preference to change the value from ‘true’ to ‘false’. Close the tab to save your changes.
And that’s it. You have to find all videos whether they are muted or not so that they cannot be played automatically. Of course, you can prevent videos from being blocked on certain sites, just like you can with non-muted videos.
