How to Add a star to any post on Instagram
In addition to message filters, you also get a feature to star messages. You can favorite a message with the Star option. For example, if you want to separate message threads from your BFFs, you can star them. Once starred, you can easily filter them with this new one feature Follow these steps to star or favorite a post on Instagram: Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your phone and tap the Direct Message (DM) icon in the right corner.
Step 2: Touch and hold the message you want to favorite (long touch) and select the Star option from the pop-upup menu. Once you do that, a little star icon will appear next to the person’s name.

How to Unstar a message
Follow these steps to remove a post from the star filter or remove the star from an Instagram post: Step 1: Open the Instagram app and tap the Direct Message (DM) icon in the left corner.
Step 2: Navigate to and hold the message you want to unstar. Tap the Unstar option in the menu. You can also remove a message’s star from the chat thread by tapping the solid star icon in the top bar.
As soon as you unstar a message, the little star icon next to the name will be removed from the chat list. In the meantime, we recommend not to press ‘like’ or follow up button often or by using third party apps to get more followers as Instagram may block your account.
How to Filter Instagram posts
Now that you know how to star on a message, it’s time to filter star and unread messages. Here is how to filter messages: Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your phone and tap the DM icon in the top right corner.
Step 2: Tap the new filter icon on the right side of the search bar. You will see three options: Inbox, Unread and Starred.
Tap the option you want to filter your messages. For example, if you want to see starred messages, tap the Starred option. Likewise, if you want to separate unread messages from your inbox, tap Unread. To go back to the full inbox, tap the small Inbox label below the filter icon. Isn’t it easy?

Is It Worth Using?
Yes the feature is amazing and extremely helpful. But it would have been great if you could have created filters or added a label or tags to the posts, as it would further help separate posts. However, let’s be grateful that this is helpful in any case feature has been announced by Instagram, as opposed to the useless Last Active feature which they threw at us last month.
