So recently I was troubleshooting a problem on my friend’s PC with TeamViewer. And to my annoyance I realized there was no sound coming from the other end. If it was an issue that didn’t require audio I would have happily let it go. But as luck would have it, it was a VLC-related issue that explicitly required audio. In situations like this, the sound settings are the usual culprits. It could be related to the individual module (remote control or meeting) or to the program you are running on the other person’s computer. So, in this post today, we’ll cover both aspects and show you how to enable audio in TeamViewer on Windows 10 computers.
Audio in sessions with remote control
Step 1: After opening Team Viewer, go to the main window and click Tools> Options.
Step 2: Click on Remote control (third option from the top) and check the ‘Play computer sounds and music’ option under the Default settings section of the remote control.
For audio to function normally remotely, the above option must remain enabled on both computers. However, if you’re still having trouble playing sound from other applications like VLC, a look at VLC’s audio settings should make it work.
In the VLC, click Tools> Preferences and select the Audio tab. Once inside, go to the Output section and click on the drop-down menu to set the output module as WaveOut audio output. Select speakers and press OK.
Audio in meetings
Fortunately, the audio settings in TeamViewer Meetings are located directly in the meeting interface. This means you don’t have to leave the screen to rummage through the settings. Once you’ve started a meeting, tap the gear icon on the Screen Share card. Select Share computer sounds and music. That is it. The participants on the other end can hear the audio almost immediately.
Just make sure to keep the microphone turned off when you’re not speaking. Wait, that’s not all.

Fortunately, this can be overcome to some extent by optimizing the speed. Click View and select Optimize speed. If you have a bad or slow connection, a click on Optimize quality will help too.
3. Set up a confirmation window
The default settings of TeamViewer allow full access to your computer when you participate in a remote control session. But if you want the tool to ask for your permission (before giving the check), you can.
To do this, you need to go to the advanced options (Tools> Options) and look for the card ‘Advanced settings for connection to this computer’. Under Access Control, select Custom Settings and click Configure.
Click the drop-down menu for the Manage My Computer option and select After confirmation. That is it!
4. Reboot like a pro
