While most of Logitech’s other webcams have a single USB cable soldered to the device, the Brio has a USB-C port on the back. This allows you to swap out the included 2.2-meter USB-C USB-A cable if you need more range or want to upgrade to USB-C USB-A. As someone who likes to put webcams in all sorts of places, I appreciate the possibilities this port opens up, and I’d like to see more webcams equipped with it. The Brio comes with a clip-on mount that allows you to attach the webcam to your computer monitor or upright on a table. If you tear off the clip, you’ll also find a 1/4-inch screw hole that allows you to attach it to other things like tripods and light stands. The Logitech Brio is a serious webcam for serious video calling. It features a 4K sensor, dual omnidirectional microphones with noise reduction, HDR, and Logitech’s RealLight 3 automatic exposure technology. It also manages 60 frames per second at 1080p and even 90 frames per second when you turn the resolution down to 720p. That’s an impressive list of features for a webcam, but at the end of the day, most of them won’t make it to the other end of a video call. Unless you’re using them to film post-edited content, the 4K or higher frame rates simply aren’t needed, as most video conferencing software offers a maximum of 1080p 30fps. Often, even lower resolutions are transmitted depending on the bandwidth. However, if you want to get the most out of this camera, you should download either Logitech Brio or Logitech Capture setup software. The former lets you adjust basic settings like field of view, exposure, and white balance. Logitech Capture lets you do all that, but you can also add graphics, switch between other sources like the screen, and record directly to your computer. The Brio’s 13-megapixel 4K sensor seems to capture a bit more detail than its cheaper 1080p counterparts, even when not recording or transmitting in 4K. It’s easier to see small text that would otherwise be blurry, and fine textures are a bit easier to distinguish. You can also switch between different fields of view (FOV) thanks to the higher resolution sensor. The Brio has a fairly large 90-degree field of view, which means it can capture a large portion of the space directly in front of it. It’s a pretty awesome tool for capturing an entire room or multiple people at once. Using Logitech’s camera setup software or Logitech Capture, you can narrow the field of view to 65 or 75 degrees, with 65 degrees being the best value for focusing on a person. However, there is a drawback to choosing this option. It is not a physical switch to a different lens like on the iPhone. The reduction of the field of view is achieved via digital zoom. This means that when you use the camera in this sweet spot, you effectively cut off half of what the camera captures, so you still get a 1080p image.
