Guide: Best Third Party Apps for FB Messenger
For most of us, Facebook Messenger is not the preferred messaging app. It’s WhatsApp or WeChat or iMessage. But Messenger still has a place on ours phoneWe still have to use it to communicate with people we only know through Facebook. Granted, that may not be your closest circle of friends. But a version of that, yes. Facebook has previously removed a magazine from the playbook of apps like Line and WeChat. I am thinking of the introduction of stickers. Now Facebook is doing it again, essentially turning Messenger into a platform for developers to create apps for. I wrote in a previous article about the platform, what it is, my opinion about it and its potential. Today I want to focus on the best third-party apps for Messenger.
Messenger apps 101
Third-party apps for Messenger are just that. Full-fledged apps available in the iOS App Store and Play Store that can be connected to the original app. Right now, the apps available are heavily based on making your conversations more fun and interesting. Since we’re talking about Messenger here, that’s hardly a surprise.
But I hope this is just the beginning and that it will later make way for bigger, more feature-rich apps that can securely access Facebook Messenger data and let us do more with it. Now let’s get to the apps.
1. GIPHY for Messenger
In the name of everything viral on the Internet, let’s start with GIFs. We love to send GIFs to each other. I’ve already talked about various apps that help you. But GIPHY for Messenger (iPhone, Android) makes this dead simple. Just launch the app, search for GIFs, find one and tap Send button, select the contact / group name and the GIF will be sent.
2. Memes
After GIFs, memes are probably the best way to troll your friends. Memes (Android app) makes creating great memes a breeze. Choose the background, type the text and send it.
3. Ditty
Ditty (iPhone, Android) is probably the most innovative app to come out of the Facebook Messenger Platform. You type some text, up up to 70 characters and the app generates a 30 second video in which a robotic voice sings the text you have written, supported by a popular tune. The app will give you some tunes to try. You can buy more for $ 0.99 each.
4. Camoji
Camoji (iPhone) is a great GIF maker app. With Camoji for Messenger, you can do all that and find a quick way to share it with Messenger friends and groups.
5. FlipLip
FlipLip (iPhone) is an app that changes your voice. Why should not do you use that?
5. UltraText
With UltraText (iPhone, Android) you can send text in GIF form. Because who likes plain old text that doesn’t even move?
6. Foter
Foter (iPhone, Android) is a photo filter and collage app in one.
7. Action movie FX
Action Movie FX is another really fun app. Insert action scenes into your photos. Blow stuff up on the background. Pretending to look cool has never been easier.
8. Selfied
You won’t have reached the peak selfie until you’ve turned your selfies into stickers that you can then quickly send to your friends. You basically automate the selfie process. You have a selfie workflow. You are a professional selfie user. You go places. Download Selfied for iPhone.
Will you be using these apps?
A full list of all 40 Facebook Messenger apps from the launch partner is available here, but I’m sure it’s just the beginning. Soon we’ll see more custom apps for Facebook Messenger.
