Best MMORPGs On Steam
New World
The Lord Of The Rings
If you’re a Middle Earth enthusiast looking for a new MMO, The Lord Of The Rings Online is a must-consider. Of course, the big selling point here is that you get to immerse yourself in Tolkien’s world. You can play as a hobbit, fight with Gimli, and face off against the Witch King in Angmar, to name a few options. Lord of the Rings Online is also true to the novels, with plenty of interesting tiny details for fans of the literature. It’s an elderly MMO that was first introduced in 2007, and it was quite outdated even at the time, yet it still receives updates today. Furthermore, much of its content is free to play, and the Helm’s Deep expansion will take you all the way up to level 95. Overall, it is one of the best MMORPGs On Steam that you can download from official site.
The Elder Scrolls Online
Zenimax Online has released the only MMO set in the best-selling Elder Scrolls franchise. Set a thousand years before the events of Skyrim, ESO allows players to visit breathtaking locations from the series’ past and participate in epic events. Morrowind’s wetlands and exotic surroundings, Summerset’s sun-drenched isle, and Skkyrim’s snow-covered peaks can all be explored. Elder Scrolls Online is one of the better MMOs in terms of plot, with well-written characters and excellent voice acting.
Path of Exile
If you enjoy Action RPGs, you’ve probably heard about Path of Exile. It’s no secret that we at MMORPG.com adore Path of Exile, which has won the award for best persistent online game for the past four years. With several years of updates, a diablo-like fighting system, and a customization mechanism that allows players to fine-tune their build, it’s no surprise that this is one of the most played games on Steam. Path of Exile currently boasts roughly 40 thousand daily active players and is on the rise. The game’s presence on Steam peaked at 28 thousand in 2013, but several years later, we’ve witnessed a recurrent player count on Steam that has exhibited considerable peak active players, culminating in Path of Exiles having the highest concurrent player count on record back in February of this year.
Warframe
It’s difficult to think Warframe is over a decade old because it doesn’t feel like it. While Warframe isn’t a standard MMORPG, this visceral third-person shooter has expanded in ways I can’t believe, with plenty of fascinating content and new Warframes being introduced all the time. There’s also a lot of lore to keep players interested, cooperative play, and plenty of cool weaponry for Tenno to utilise to eviscerate their enemies. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the parkour-style movement is simply amazing. Space ninjas to the rescue! Warframe has witnessed significant expansion throughout the years.
Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV is the MMO that has defied the odds and challenged the dominance of World of Warcraft. Following a rocky start, FFXIV was given a second chance in 2012 with the release of A Realm Reborn. With a wonderful tale, amazing graphics, and all the aesthetic flourishes of the long-running Final Fantasy brand, the MMO is now going from strength to strength. It’s a fantastic “theme park” MMO alternative to Blizzard’s World of Warcraft.
Lost Ark
Unfortunately, all of these newcomers are putting a load on the Lost Ark servers, although we understand lineups move rapidly. If you’re interested in trying out the game, we have several tutorials that can help you, from how to level up quickly to what you need to know about Lost Ark gold and mokoko seeds.
Neverwinter
Neverwinter is a pleasant surprise. It’s Dungeons & Dragons-themed, with the settings, characters, spells, and abilities from the tabletop game crammed into one of the best MMORPGs. It should not be possible, but it is. It helps that there is a genuine affection for the original material, and each journey feels like one you could embark on while sitting around a table. Many free additions, including new races and classes, have been released since the release of Neverwinter, transporting players far beyond the safety of Neverwinter to areas like Icewind Dale, where barbarians and uncomfortable weather are the least of your worries.
Tibia
This is one of the original MMORPGs. It predates World of Warcraft and Runescape, both of which owe something to Tibia for building the groundwork for them. Tibia first debuted in 1997, and while the majority of the early MMOs of the time have since had their servers shut down and fallen into obscurity, Tibia retains a strong fan base to this day. Its endearing 2D pixel art graphics have undoubtedly contributed to its survival. While its contemporaries would most certainly appear janky by today’s standards, Tibia is a historical example of an art style that modern independent developers are always attempting to create.
Black Desert Online
Beginners are not welcome in Black Desert Online’s complicated depths. Its magnificent fantasy setting is teeming with systems such as battle, trade, and diplomacy. BDO allows you to do much more than just go on adventures; you may collect materials, craft them into other products, and have them moved around by automated workers. BDO is the type of MMO in which you’re just as likely to be a blacksmith as you are a wizard.
Final Words
The best MMORPGs on Steam can often be, as the name implies, a vast project that will consume significant amounts of your time. But isn’t that what makes them unique? You can spend years levelling up your characters from humble want tobe to raid heroes with scorching pauldrons that leak lava, so be sure you invest your time wisely. Not all MMOs cater to everyone, but the best ones allow you to live another life in your own time.
