The Bose Smart Soundbar 600 is a small, all-in-one soundbar that supports Dolby Atmos soundtrack playback and employs proprietary TrueSpace processing to upconvert both stereo and regular 5.1 channel sources for Atmos presentation. DTS:X is incompatible. A remote control is included, and both setup and control are possible via the Bose Music app. The Soundbar 600 can also be expanded with optional wireless surround speakers and subwoofers from the company (up to two). The Soundbar 600 employs five transducers: two side-mounted ones that work in tandem with a center-mounted tweeter to deliver an expanded stereo image, and two top-mounted ones for Dolby Atmos overhead effects. Bose does not specify driver size or amplifier power. The Soundbar 600 has an HDMI eARC port as well as an optical digital audio input for connecting an older TV that does not support HDMI ARC/eARC. Alexa support is built in, allowing for hands-free operation of basic controls such as volume and track skipping, as well as access to Alexa-enabled music apps. When a Google speaker is connected to the network, the Soundbar 600 also works with Google Assistant, providing similar functionality. With Alexa enabled on the Soundbar 600, you can also use its Voice4Video feature to control functions of a connected Smart TV, such as turning it on and off, playing and pausing video playback, and changing channels. The Soundbar 600 has the same basic bar-like form factor as many other soundbars and is only available in black. It’s a fairly sleek and compact design for an all-in-one unit, measuring 27 inches wide by 2 inches high and 4 inches deep. Given its low price, the Soundbar 600’s build quality is excellent: a metal mesh grille surrounds the front and sides of the bar, and the back panel has left and right ports as well as a metal sink to keep the built-in amplifier from overheating. When you lift the Soundbar 600 in your hands, you can tell it’s been built to last. The included remote control from Bose is a small unit with basic buttons for power, volume, mute, and input selection. The Bose Music app can perform the same functions, and there are also touch controls on the top of the soundbar that allow you to power it on/off and activate or deactivate the built-in microphone for voice control.
