Unfortunately, Motorola has placed this at the very bottom of the price list, implying that many compromises have also been made. The Moto G Power (2022) excels in the areas of camera, display quality, and performance. The same 1,600-by-720 resolution (269ppi) as the 2021 Moto G Power is offered by a flat, 6.5-inch LCD, albeit with a faster 90Hz refresh rate. In the centre of the display, a small cutout for the 8MP selfie camera can be found. The biggest letdown is the 720p resolution. Although the screen displays accurate colours, close inspection reveals some pixelation. While the viewing angles are good, we wish the panel was brighter because it’s difficult to see in direct sunlight. The top edge of the phone has a headphone jack, while the bottom edge has a USB-C charging port and a speaker. The only port on the left is a combo SIM and microSD slot, while the right has a volume rocker and textured power button. The buttons are easy to identify by touch, but if you have small hands, you may have difficulty reaching them. A thin module for the camera sensors sits in the upper left corner of the G Power’s back. While the power button on last year’s G Power doubled as a fingerprint sensor, it has been relocated to the phone’s back; it works quickly and accurately, and doesn’t require as precise a touch as in-display or side-mounted sensors. The phone’s durability is comparable to that of similarly priced models. Its plastic back and chassis are likely to withstand a drop without significant damage, but we can’t say the same for its reinforced glass panel. An IP52 rating means it should withstand rain, splashes, and sweat without issue, but it won’t likely withstand a drop in the pool or sink.
